Every step done right

When creating a new fire pit for our customers we make sure we are very thorough and thoughtful around all the key areas that many contractors sometimes either overlook or rush through, including:

Prep the base. We dig out the area to a depth of at least 8 inches, removing all grass, rocks, and debris, and then compact it.

Create the base. Fill the excavated area with 4-6 inches of crushed QP and tamp it down with a tamper. When doing stone and stone veneer we require a ~2 foot concrete footing.

Build the wall. Use pavers or block to build a circular wall around the perimeter of the excavated area, leaving an opening for the fire pit. The wall should be at least 12 inches high. When doing stone or stone veneer we require reinforced rebar.

Secure the wall. Depending on the type of fire pit material, we then use construction adhesive, landscape adhesive, or cement to secure the pavers/stones in place.

Add fire pit liner. We then install a fire pit liner into the center of the pit to help contain the fire.

Add finishing touches. Finish the fire pit with a top layer of pavers or decorative stone to provide a finished look.

Remember to always check your local fire codes before building a fire pit, as some areas may have specific regulations or permits required for outdoor fires.

Many different styles

Fire pits come in many – almost unlimited – different styles, and we’ve done them all. Including:

  • Round fire pits in traditional heavy-weight paver blocks, rocks, and stone veneer.
  • Half-circle fire pits built in to an existing wall;
  • Rugged, natural looking fire pits that sit far away from the house to bring on a more natural look;
  • Modern, square fire pits made of ceramic wood-style beams.

And many, many more different styles.
